Exploring Penrhyn Castle
Or… another National Trust property pit-stop on the way to our holiday destination!
We caught the electric buggy taxi from the car park to the entrance of the castle, where we stopped for a picnic before venturing inside.
Penrhyn Castle is situated within 60 acres of woodland, and the original owners (filthy rich, slave driver, sugar & slate merchants) owned pretty much all the land you can see with your bare eyes, basically the whole of North Wales…
The rooms are very grand, but the star of the show is the a magnificent Grand Staircase, carved out of sandstone & limestone that took 10 years to complete. On completing the tour of the castle, we headed into the woodland to find the playground (of course) before heading onward to our accommodation for the rest of the week – in Beaumaris.
