Powis Castle

After a stormy long weekend away celebrating my birthday and our 6th wedding anniversary, it was a pleasant surprise when we awoke to a Summer’s day forecast!

Powis Castle is a medieval castle and country house set within stunning grounds in the Welsh countryside.

We ate a picnic on the benches outside before taking a tour of the castle/house. There are plenty of extravagant rooms, laid out as they would have been in history, paintings on ceilings, well stocked libraries and a room with dozens of stuffed birds!

The gardens are lovely to wander around, especially in nice weather, with lots of pathways to explore. We did a circular walk from the property to the gardens down below and back through the woodland opposite.
